Concealed Carry
Apparel - Tactical Clothing - Concealment Apparel
As a civilian you may never thought in your wildest dreams that
you would be using terms such as: Tactical Apparel, concealment
clothes, concealment apparel, I need to buy my pants one waist
size bigger to fit my IWB holster or one size up shirt to hide my
backup gun. However the every increasing violence of our society
has driven thousands of people to carrying a concealed handgun for
defense. In fact their are only 5-7 states at this time that does
not allow some form of handgun carry for personal defense.
Concealed carry permit applications in all states have risen
dramatically due to the average citizens quest for personal and
family safety. Family safety -home defense and street survival is
unfortunately becoming the watch word for many people in al
communities, whether rural, suburban or urban. Just ask the people
who survived Katrina where the Law enforcement protection was,
they will tell you that their family safety - home defense and
street survival was left up to the individual. Many apparel manufacturers who in the past dealt
primarily with the Law Enforcement community has expanded their
apparel lines to meet the growing demand of civilians.
With the increase demand and popularity of concealment/
tactical clothing there a number of copy cat companies offering
low quality look alike clothing. 5.11 Tactical series line up has
been around for over 30yrs and are the originators of tactical
apparel and concealment clothing for those who have a real need
for durable concealment clothing. You do not necessarily have to
purchase special clothing in order to carry a concealed handgun,
however you do need to buy carry friendly clothes. For example if
you carry your handgun "Strong side on the belt", make sure that
the belt loops on the pants line up so as not to be in the way of
the holster riding in the correct position. If you plan to hide
your handgun with a jacket of sweater, they hang low enough to
cover your handgun. Pants should be loose enough to
accommodate carrying inside the pant.
The 5.11 Tactical Series of clothing has been
designed for rough duty work and handgun concealment. All clothing
is triple stitched and reinforced at the major stress points for
durability and comfort.
5.11 Tactical Series:
Pants: The pants are cut to give more knee and crotch
room for kneeling, bending, climbing and other tactical moves
which may be required The waist band has reinforced elastic to
afford better movement and that extra amount of room when carrying
a IWB holster. Essentially unchanged in almost 30 years, the 5.11
Tactical Pant has been updated with minor feature enhancements
like a relocated front pocket, and Cordura® reinforcements in
high-wear areas (especially due to everyday carry of a clip knife
or flashlight.)
Vests: Indestructible,
practical, functional and more pockets than you’ll know what to do
with. Carry everything you need for a day at the range, to the
mall, or someplace less safe. Pockets for maps, sunglasses,
documents, magazines, water, snacks and more, plus the 5.11
Back-up Belt System™ for stowing other essentials & gear. And so
you don’t forget which pocket you stashed your keys in – there’s
even a key clip. Constructed from 8.5 ounce 100% cotton canvas,
triple stitched and bartacked for built-to-last durability. A 360º
pocket wraps its way around the inside of the entire vest. Updated
with a reinforced half-collar. Long enough to conceal a sidearm.
Holster Shirt: This new undershirt is a great way to
carry concealed. It will require you to practice drawing from the
holster shirt, as it will require a new group of muscle memory
training. Your over shirt will need to be a bit on the baggy side
to conceal a larger handgun. I've personally concealed a SW J
frame with a tighter shirt and a Glock 27 to 22 with a shirt one
size larger. Three of us recently flew armed to Las Vegas, no one
on board noticed our concealed handguns and never did the Vegas
PD. In fact while talking to a group of Vegas Pd they couldn't
pick out our concealed handguns until we pointed them out.
Designed for concealed carry, the 5.11 Holster Shirt allows a
wearer to carry a small revolver or auto-loader tucked neatly
under your arm. Opaque mesh pockets securely and discretely hold
your back-up, while a terrycloth lining absorbs moisture from your
skin. The pocket is also lined on the body-side with a moisture
barrier. A mesh yoke goes over the wearer’s shoulder, adds support
and prevents sagging. Dri-X-treme® moisture-wicking,
anti-microbial and quick drying fabric. 80% polyester, 20%
spandex.
Outer wear: 5.11 Tactical has many different jacket and
coats for concealed carry and Law Enforcement use. The most common
jacket sold to the general public is the
patrol fleece jacket, the
Aggressor parka and
Big Horn Jacket.
Accessories: 5.11 Tactical series has a variety of
accessories to enhance the storage of the concealment clothing
line that includes a holster and magazine pouch which can be
utilized in the cargo pants pockets. vest and coat chest pockets
and more.
Emergency Preparedness
Apparel and
Gear
Being geared out in 5.11 tactical series or
similar style clothing isn't necessarily a requirement for
survival. However they do provide a great utilitarian advantage as
well as comfort. Having the correct clothing and gear for family
emergencies use should also be a priority .
