I moved the body of the bad guy back into the
house!
I put a throw down knife in the intruders
hand!
I hit myself a couple of times to give my
face a few marks!
I threw away my gun and left the scene!
How many times have
you heard a similar comment on television or at the movies? At one
time this may have been a feasible alternative it a gray area
shooting. However with today's technologies it isn't likely that a
person will get away with this type of actions.
Bottom Line your story
better match the Forensics evidence.
If the authorities
catch you in a little unimportant lie, they will begin to question
your entire story. Which could be enough to take a gray area
shooting far enough for the prosecutor to recommend a Grand jury
inquiry.
If you touched the
body to check for a pulse, tell the authorities if asked
Blood Evidence -
Body Position - body fluid splatters - your position in relation
to the attacker when you shot- Firearms forensics - Firing pin
markings - extractor markings - bullet recovery etc.
Do not mess with
the crime scene other than securing the situation for safety
reasons I.E. gun moved out of reach of attacker.
It is simple common sense |
