Are you ready to take a human
life to defend yourself or Family?
There are volumes
available explaining defensive tactics for self-defense and home
defense. The available information as what to do in a given
situation - what to expect from the authorities after the shooting
is very subjective.
Each state has
differing view points as to when you are allowed to shoot in order
to defend yourself or family.
Excerpt:
You are carrying your licensed
and legal handgun when you are attacked by an unarmed opponent!
If you rely on your weapon alone, you probably will be facing jail
time and expensive criminal and/or civil suits. Three real-life
cases are used to illustrate how law enforcement and the courts
frown on you when you bring a gun to a fist fight.
Examples.
Taking a human life
under any circumstances will be a life altering situation for all
parties concerned: The Shooter - the Shot and the families of both.
If you are forced
into a legal lethal defensive situation and must take a human life
to defend your family, you can expect some immediate and long term
changes to your life. Your 1st response after the shooting is over
should be to call 911, inform the operator that you had been
forced into defending yourself (family) and need an ambulance for
the attacker and the police. Once the police arrive and secure the
situation you will give them enough information to look for the
attackers accomplices if any. Then inform the police that you
would prefer your attorney present for any other questions.
Because the immediate change will be a free ride to the police
station where they will attempt to sort out the mess. If all goes
well you should be home in five to six hours. That 1st night when
you attempt to sleep you will relive the shooting over and over
again, including what ifs. What if I did this or did that it would
have been safer - was my family in my line of fire -could I have
talked them out of shooting me or raping my daughter - what if -
what if - what if?
-
The authorities
deem the shooting justifiable either in house or by the grand
jury, either way you will experience some attorney fees ranging
from a fee hundred to a few thousand dollars.
-
You now are left
with the task of explaining to your family - reliving the
shooting every time some well intentioned people congratulate
you on killing the "scum bag" Regardless of how well deserved
the death, it will effect you consciously and sub consciously
for the rest of our life.
Just as
officers are debriefed after a shooting, we recommend that you
seek out an experienced professional to discuss the situation
and your feelings.
Long Term:
Years later the shooting will still pop into your mind and you
will be second guessing yourself all over again. You may have to
deal with the attackers family when they decide to sue you for
wrongful death or some other lame excuse. Either way you still
will have to pay for an attorney to try and make it go away.
Do not over react to
the experience, don't go tree hugger ,nor go ninja and take every
defensive course known to mankind. We recommend life in
moderation, or you will burn out.
Your
family will never be the same, especially if they are witness to
the event, Ii this is the case please seek professional counseling
for your family. Of course even if the attacker was a harden
criminal and a pure scum bag - He is still could be someone's Son,
brother or father and was loved as much as you are by your family
