What to do in the event of a violent
conflict
Please beware not all the
following maybe correct for your given situation other than
the 1st point.
-
Call an ambulance and/or the Police (
before your attacker does, believe
it or not sometimes he who calls in first wins, as well as
the person who can remain calm and conduct themselves in a
proper manor is also important - Who is going to make the
most favorable impression - the person cussing and
referring to everyone and everything as an MF'er or the calm
victim who conducts themselves in as much of a businesslike
manor the situation allows?).
-
Gather witness information (names.
addresses and phone numbers.
-
When the police arrive, be cooperative
and as calm as possible, saying nothing other than the
description of the assailant if they got away and "You were
in fear for your life" do not discuss anything until your
Attorney is present. (If you carry a concealed weapon
or have a firearm for home defense it is recommended that
you have spoken with an attorney prior it any problems. You
do not need to have them on retainer, however you will need
to have a client attorney relationship to include the
attorney's emergency phone number. Be sure to have your
attorneys number memorized or with you at all times).
-
Expect to be taken downtown for at least
a short period of time for questioning. (Again do not
answer any questions until your attorney is present, no
matter how clean of a shoot you may believe that it is.).
-
If arrested be sure that your family or
friends are aware to post bail for you as soon as possible.
-
Be sure to press charges against your
attacker, as well as consider a civil suit prior to the
assailant or his family suing you.
-
Do not pick up the attackers weapon,
other than moving it out of the attackers reach. Secure your
firearm when the authorities arrive.
-
If you are a rape/assault victim, do not
shower or douche in order to preserve evidence (will also
need Sexual Assault Victim Intervention representative
present) -remember the description of the assailant as much
as you can - if suspect leaves the scene, do not attempt to
apprehend him or her.
-
Be prepared for retribution and increase
your individual protective measures - if necessary, get a
restraining order on the suspect. Sometimes lowlifes have
lowlife friends and family who are upset because you
disrespected the puke by defending yourself. After all how
many times have we heard on the Television about a serial
rapist or murder who when asked by the neighbors "He was
a nice quiet young man who never bothered anybody and went
to church, took care of his aged mother" It just turns
out he add a bad habit of raping and beating older women.
-
After time you will need to find a way to
move on with your life, consider professional counseling for
yourself and family members.
Even harden officers who shoot a know
lowlife that even the most compassionate tree hugger would
understand the officer would have a sub-conscious
reaction.
A seasoned under cover Deputy shot and
killed a known drug dealer when he attempted to run down the
Deputy not once but twice. Although this decorated officer
said it didn't really bother him, we could see it in the
young mans eyes. I'm sure that it was a combination of
taking a human life and a reminder of his own human frailty.
Yes the family of this known, ex-con, drug dealing attempted
cop killer's sued the Sheriff Department for wrongful death.
The department paid a small fee to make it go away.
even though it was an absolute clean shoot. Even the dealers
girl friend stated at the scene that he wasn't going back to
jail and attempted to kill the Deputy.
